Google market share at 65%

January 9, 2008 by atlantaseo

Google is not quite a monopoly but as a search one trick pony, it has a wealth of fans. As reported in the Boston.com, New York Times, Greenengineseo.com and Nielsen NetRatings.com, Google’s search market share has jumped from 58 percent in March 2006 to 65.1 percent today as of January, 2008.

The reason is simple.  Their pay per click advertising network is easy and robust for the SMB market.  This has allowed Google to obtain thousands of paying clients.  At AOL, we attempted to sign-up small and medium businesses but we did not have the do it yourself advertising platform to achieve the type of growth that Google has achieved.

A simple and fast search engine has created the SEO cottage industry that will continue to thrive as search moves into the video age.
